Members of our Come Eat Together Gentleman’s Breakfast in Durham Indoor Market have celebrated a successful first year. This is a great example of how successful partnership working is making a difference to people’s lives.
Older men come together at 9.30am on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the historic Durham Indoor Market for a hearty English breakfast, followed by a guest speaker.
Colin Wilkes, Durham Indoor Market Manager along with our gents has welcomed some fascinating speakers this year including;
- Chaplin Paul Tyler from HMP Frankland
- Dr John Silcock – Consultant Endoscopist and Gastroenterologist,
- Councillor Bill Moir – Deputy Mayor of Durham
- Mike Amos – Chairman of the Northern Football League
- Blue Watch of the Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service
Speakers have also included members of the group itself and the members are looking forward to the program of guest speakers arranged for the coming year.
Here is what our gents had to say.
“I really look forward to meeting up with this great bunch of men and enjoying great breakfast”
“We have had some brilliant and very interesting speakers; some have even come from our own group……a lot of us have our own story to tell.”
“I enjoy meeting interesting old rascals; I enjoy someone cooking my breakfast; the organisers are wonderful; keep it going please!”
“Apart from the full English being my monthly breakfast treat, it’s always a pleasure to share the morning with others and having a chat together and listening to a guest speaker.”
To celebrate the group success we made a short film about the group. You can see it here.
The next Gentlemen’s Breakfast will be held on Wednesday 14 September 2016 at 9.30am
