Lunch at Locomotion

The members of Come Eat Together at Locomotion MuseumThe last Monday of every month sees the Locomotion Museum at Shildon host a two course lunch provided by Cafe Number One. Set amongst the steam trains, this lunch has been running since September 2012 and has proved popular within the local community.

After lunch there is an exciting range of activities on offer from guided tours, historical talks and craft activities. Here’s what some of the participants had to say,

“I enjoy coming and meeting people, and learning new things. It is great, plus no washing up when we come for meals”.

“I enjoy coming to the lunch club. I like meeting up with others to share lunch. I spent a lot of time alone without company”.

The next lunch will be held on Monday 23 May and anyone aged 50+ is welcome to come along and enjoy a two course lunch with tea or coffee for the affordable price of £4.95.

We are also looking for volunteers to be a friendly and welcoming face at the lunch. Could you give some of your time to help older people enjoy their time with others? For more information about volunteering or to book your place please contact the Come Eat Together Team on 0191 374 6577.
